The city of Slavutych was built in the aftermath of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster to house the workers and families who would help clean up the world's biggest environmental catastrophe. Designed as a workers' paradise, today the town exhibits perfectly preserved Soviet architecture and is home to those building the enormous sarcophagus that will entomb Reactor 4.
